When Dish was awarded the New Zealand Magazine of the Year, the judges' commented that it "achieved this accolade as a result of all-round excellence. It was a brilliant collaborative effort". The other collaborators were Jones Publishing and editor Catherine Bell of Epicurean Workshop. The origins of Dish wasn't as a magazine title but as a brand. The name was an important part of establishing its positioning and personality. And like any good name, Dish lent itself to a an interesting graphic representation.
